Two bodies regulate the School’s activities and functioning. Three student representative chair, along with their alternates. They can all debate, but only titular representatives can vote.
These two bodies are a place for students to be heard and submit propositions, during meetings or prior to a setting, by adding an item to the agenda.
Elections are held during the 1st semester of the civil year.
Every student enrolled in 1st, 2nd or 3rd cycle appears on the electoral list and can candidate.
Student elections are on lists. Sits are distributed between competitive lists according to the proportion of votes. The lists must feature 6 names, with no obligation to indicate a specific order.
The education council deliberates on matters regarding teaching, pedagogy and school year organisation. It is presided by the Director and includes two administrative members appointed by the Director, fifteen teacher representatives elected for a two-year renewable mandate and three student representatives elected for a one-year renewable mandate.
The administration board deliberates on the School’s projects and the annual activity report, on matters regarding the School’s life, its organisation, pedagogical offering and rules of procedure.
It is also in charge of the budget approval, its modifications and the financial account.
The administration board meets when convened by the Chairman, at least twice a year.
It is composed of four representatives of the Ministère de la Culture, the Director of the Musée national d’art moderne du Centre national d’art et de culture Georges Pompidou or his/her representative, seven high-profile figures appointed on the grounds of their competence by the Ministère de la Culture, and of elected employee and student representatives (six teacher representatives, three personnel representatives and three student representatives).
Teacher and personnel representatives sitting on the administration board are elected for a three-year renewable mandate. Student representatives are elected for a one-year renewable mandate
Student life commission
The student life commission is dedicated to deal with questions regarding daily life in the studios, logistics and risk prevention, as well as students’ initiatives that go beyond the scopes of the education council and the administration board.
Any school member qualified on a topic on the agenda can be invited to take part in the Commission.
Pending on the conclusion of the discussions, the commission can ask that topics be relayed to the education council, the administration board or the health and safety committee.
The commission gathers twice a semester. It is composed of the Director or his/her representative, the Dean of studies or his/her representative, a member of the scholastic affairs office, two student representatives sitting on the administration board and the education council, two teacher representatives sitting on the education council, a teacher from the matter/space department, a teacher from the foundation skills department, a teacher form the printmaking/bookmaking department, and of four teachers appointed within the department of artistic practice.
Situations when students do not meet the conditions for passing grades, wish to resume School after more than two years of interruption, or request a derogation from the registration conditions specified by the rules of procedure, etc. are reviewed by a commission.
This commission can be led to expel a student, due to a pedagogical deficiency.
The commission is composed of the Director or his/her representative, the Dean of studies or his/her deputy, three teachers and of a student representative sitting on the administration board and the education council. It gathers once or twice a year.
A disciplinary commission can be summoned against a student, on convocation of the Director.
This commission is composed of the Director or his/her representative, the Dean of studies or his/her representative, a personnel representative appointed by the Director, two teachers designated by lot amongst the representative sitting on the administration board and the education council, and of two student representatives designated by lot amongst the representative sitting on the administration board and the education council.
Sanctions applicable are: blame, temporary suspension, permanent exclusion, compulsory restauration in case of deterioration, obligation to replace material in case of theft.
